8 Ways to Get Your Site Listed on Google Within Hours

If you are new to internet marketing your time literally is money; and so it isn't uncommon to hear the question: "Are Keywords still necessary in my articles, lenses, hubs, blogs etc?" More, now than ever the answer is a resounding YES! Keywords tell give Google a quick idea what your site is about and tells it how you want it to be placed in it's search engine. So you are literally talking to Google when you add keywords.

Tip: Just like when you talk to people in real life, you will want to be careful what you say to Google. So remember, when you speak to Google use quality keywords over quantity. Some of the highest ranked sites out there (including ezine) only allow you to place 6 or so keywords.

None of us know all the criteria that Google uses when indexing and ranking a site. Google doesn't see the marketer or site builder as it's client but instead views the end user as the customer. This being said it is doing it's best to remove spam from it's search results and give bad ratings to sites that have poor content.

This being said there are some things you can do to tell Google's bots that the content on your site is high quality and is worth ranking highly.

Among these are: (if you are using Squidoo)

Put you main keywords as part of web addressUse your main keyword in each module (don't "keyword stuff" though), if you cant place it in every module try put them at the beginning and the end of the pageplace your main keyword in you bio area

(You can use this information on regular webpages accordingly too)

Other ways to make your page known to Google:

Use a variety of sources for backlinksRSS Sites: Feedage & Feed Agg are two of my favoritesSocial Bookmarking: Digg, Delicious, RedditBlogs: Blogger (It's owned by Google so it only stands to reason that it is going to cause your site to get found.)Internal Links: If your page is on a site like Hubpages or Squidoo then make internal links. Squidoo has an awesome module that will allow you to place your lenses up. Also, sites like Squidoo and Hubpages are crawled by search engines quite a bit and hold a high standing with them.Article Sites: Writing informative, high quality articles is a great way to draw in people as well as the search engines. It's hard work but well worth it.

Google AdWords Tool is an amazing free program that will give you an idea of what keywords to use. It's simple and easy to use yet robust.

Five Tips for On-Page Search Engine Optimisation

Broadly speaking, any serviceable search engine optimisation (SEO) campaign should be comprised of two parts: on-page and off-page. Off-page SEO requires a significant and consistent investment of time and effort to produce results, but a little time and understanding can greatly boost your on-page SEO.

Things that make your web site easier for search engine crawlers to navigate will improve your on-page SEO. If crawlers can easily navigate and understand the structure and content of your web site, your relevance and value scores will benefit - and more importantly, so will your readers. Here are some useful tips that can produce rapid results with minimum fuss.

1. Use Header Tags
Using header tags will make your web site easier for search engine crawlers to navigate. Essentially a header tag will tell the crawlers (just as it will tell your readers) that the text contained within it places the rest of the article in context. If you are targeting specific keywords or phrases, getting these or variants thereof into your header tags will improve the chances of your page ranking for those terms.

2. Look Out For Dead Links
There is nothing search engine crawlers despise more than dead links: dead links are virtual dead ends. Readers and search engines alike find them a frustrating waste of time. Regularly checking the links on your web site is important - make it your job to perform a monthly check on any outbound links to ensure the content still exists and be careful to check your internal links after any site maintenance.

3. Use Words in URLs
Using words in the URLs of your web site will make it easier for search engine crawlers to get around your site and for your readers to remember your pages. Treat your URLs much like your header tags: they should be focused on or around your targeted key terms wherever appropriate, but above all, relevant to the content associated with that URL.

4. Use a Reliable Host
Make sure that your web site is hosting with a reliable provider. Search engine crawlers do not like downtime so it is important to ensure that your hosting provider has more than 97-98% uptime. In most cases this will not be a problem but remember that extremely cheap providers may prove to be a false economy if your web site ranking suffers.

5. Avoid Flash Home Pages Like the Plague
Once upon a time, flash home pages were in vogue. Thankfully they seem to crop up less and less frequently now as they are a nightmare from an SEO standpoint. If you must feature extensive flash sections on your web site, be sure to offer an HTML alternative or you will be committing one of SEO's cardinal sins. Search engine crawlers do not respond well to flash and some studies suggest that readers don't either.

Above all, remember the golden rule: changes to your site that are good for your readers are usually good for your search engine rankings.

Find the Right Website Marketing Consultant for Your Business

Making your website succeed is partially a matter of perseverance, and partially that of hiring someone to help you ensure your site has a high search engine ranking which will bring in more traffic. Deciding whether you need an SEO manager, or a complete website marketing consultant or web marketing business is purely a matter of comparing where your site is now on the rankings, and where you would like to be. If your site is almost there, but not quite, then you could try some in-house changes before calling in a consultant (although only an expert can really provide the extra shove your website needs), but if you are very low down on the rankings, perhaps very difficult to find, then you should definitely consider employing a website marketing consultant to help reveal where you are going wrong.

Choosing a good web marketing business starts by doing some research into the different companies and the services they provide. You may want help on improving the SEO content of your site, or perhaps putting more backlinks leading to your website. You need to discuss with the website marketing consultant exactly what needs to be done. Some may specialize on one type of marketing, while others may specialize in a different field. Of course, part of your research should involve deciding what exactly it is that you need.

You may also be able to find a consultant who is able to offer you advice about how to improve your website in other ways, for example by improving the coding in the mark-up language, or by improving your bandwidth so that more visitors can come to the site at the same time. You should also question the website marketing consultant carefully about what they can offer, and whether they have any suitable training in this area. Many modern consultants have at least a diploma in a relevant subject, while others have years of experience and references to prove it.

You should always take the time to examine any references that you have, including any links to currently existing websites. You may choose to do a Search Engine check of the rankings to assure yourself that the consultant can do what they claim to do. You should also discuss with your chosen consultant the fees and pricing, perhaps looking for those companies that provide a case-by-case deal, or many ones that offer training as an additional feature. All of these will be very important when it comes to improving your website visibility in the long term.

Best SEO 2012-your correct website architectural issues

Website architecture is a very important part of the overall search engine optimization strategy. Your site can get a great head start in achieving top rankings by ensuring you have implemented SEO friendly website architecture. Make sure you evaluate your client's website against the following SEO best practices:

Domain redirections

Check for redirections. The non-WWW version of the domain name should be 301 redirected to its WWW version. If any of the existing pages have been moved temporarily, then use 302 redirection. If the pages have been deleted and if your Analytics/Webmaster tool shows links to these deleted pages, then set up 301 redirections from the deleted URLs to the most relevant pages on your website or to the new version of the deleted URLs.

Preferred domain setting

Make sure you set the preferred domain to the WWW version in the Google webmaster tools.

Checking internal links for inconsistencies

Check which page on your site tops the list. Typically this should be one of your service offering pages, product pages or the home page. If you see the "privacy policy" or "terms and conditions" page, then your internal link structure needs attention. Also, extremely large numbers could indicate poor or rampant site-wide internal linking.

Domain blacklist checks

Check if your domain name has been blacklisted. (domain-blacklist.e-dns.org/)

If at all you do e-mail marketing, please use some other domain name and not your main business domain name.

Checking sitelinks

Check Google results page (or your webmaster account) if your website has been awarded with any sitelinks. If yes, then check if there are any pages which you do not want to be shown in the search results.

Web crawl error reporting

Check your Google Webmaster account. Navigate to "Diagnostics>Crawl Errors" and check for any errors. Make sure you rectify these issues ASAP.

URL deep directory depth issues

Search Engines measure the importance of a page's subject matter in part, by its proximity to the Homepage. Oftentimes content kept in directories that are more than 3 directories deep are considered of low value and will have difficulty ranking well for their topic.

URL Structure - Check Points

1. How many directories is the deepest content?

2. How many clicks from the homepage is major content?

URL separators

I always recommend the use of "hyphens" in the URLs as compared to "underscores". Do not use any special characters as URL separators. More than 4 separators in a URL can incur a spamming penalty and reduce the ability of the page to rank significantly.

Note examples of URLs using separators and the type, which can include:

1. Hyphens (considered a space)

2. Plus Signs (considered a character)

3. Underscores (considered a character)

Note: Some types of websites such as blogs, we give a pass on this issue.

URL capitalizations

DO NOT use capitalizations in the URLs. If you already have URLs with capital letters in them, I strongly recommend setting up permanent redirections (301) to their lower case versions to avoid URL confusion issues.

Even slight changes to URL formatting, such as adding capitalization can result in a splitting of PageRank and Link value.

Note examples of URLs using Capitalization.

Check primary navigation pages and see if you can spot PR splits.

www(dot)example(dot)com/Games/

Vs.

www(dot)example(dot)com/games/

XML sitemaps

XML Sitemaps are created to be submitted directly to search engines, providing them with the exact contents of your website.

Typically the name of the XML Sitemap is: "sitemap.xml"

If present, look for the following settings.

Check "ChangeFreq"

Check "Priority"

Check "Last mod"

Check for

1. non-www versions of URLs (assuming www is the canonicalized version)

2. HTTPS URLs

3. URLs for other domains or sub domains

Other Points of Interest

1. XML Sitemaps cannot include redirects

2. XML Sitemaps can only include URLs which appear in the directory or sub-directories of the sitemap itself.

3. XML Sitemaps should only list pages which have unique content. Avoid listing poor quality pages.

4. XML Sitemaps should contain no more than 50k URLs

5. XML Sitemaps should be no larger than 10megs in size.

XML Sitemap Verified in GWT

Make sure your XML sitemap has been submitted using Google Webmaster Tools and have been verified.

XML Sitemap in Robots.txt

Listing your XML Sitemap in your robots.txt is a good way to ensure that Yahoo, Bing and Google can regularly find and crawl your current XML Sitemap.

robots.txt issues

Check if your site has a robots.txt file. (www.example.com/robots.txt). If not, then create one and at least have the default robots.txt file on your server. You might want to block search engines from indexing the files from your website folders like, "images", "admin", "scripts" and any other specific folders.

Appended Parameters

Multiple parameters, can cause problems for Search Engines, create URL confusion by creating unnecessarily high numbers of URLs that point to identical or similar content. As a result, spiders may consume much more bandwidth than necessary, or may be unable to completely index all the content on your site.

Check:

1. For URLs with multiple appended parameters

2. Note the largest number in a URL you found

3. Note the length of the parameters (anything over 10 characters could appear to be a Session ID)

URL Encodings

Encoded URLs (The '%' sign in the URLs) can sometimes be the cause of spider loops and generally increase URL confusion by producing the same content on multiple unique URLs. All the encodings in the URLs should be stripped and discontinue linking to these encoded URLs. Also, redirecting the current encoded URLs to their new "clean versions" would be ideal.

Session IDs

Session ID's appended to a URL can produce spider loops and cause the search engines to slow crawl a site, abandon sections of a site entirely, or even the site itself.

Breadcrumbs

Breadcrumbs are a clean, user friendly way to increase effectiveness of Content Soiling through internal linking, pass valuable keywords through anchor text, as well as provide a crawlable path for search engines to follow. Make sure your site has breadcrumbs implemented.

Background Images issues

Images set as background images provide no SEO benefit. Only images on-page can have descriptive alt tags and SEO friendly file names. Try avoiding background images as much as possible.

Source code size issues

This is the page size Search Engines will be downloading during their crawl. This does not include images and dynamic elements of the website. The threshold for this are pages over 300k. Make sure none of your pages have a source code which exceeds the 300k threshold.

User download size issues

This is the size page human visitors will be downloading during their visit. This includes images and dynamic elements. The threshold for this are pages over 500k. Make sure none of your pages have a user download size which exceeds the 500k threshold.

Homepage Meta-Tags

Check for the following Meta-Tags and make sure you do not use them on you website:

Meta Refresh

meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url=www.example.com/redirect.aspx"

Redirects a visitor to another URL after a specified amount of time. Does not pass along full PageRank and Link Value

NoArchive

Prevents a cached copy of this page from being available in the search results.

NoSnippet

Prevents descriptions from appearing below the page in the search results, as well as prevents caching of the page.

Noodp and Noydir Meta Tags

Use the following tags on your home page:

Noodp

This tag notifies Search Engines that you do not want them to replace your existing Title and Meta Description Tags in SERP results with equivalent data found in your current DMOZ.org listing.

Noydir

Prevents the use of Titles and descriptions from the Yahoo Directory in Search Results.

HiJacking

Find the IP address of your domain name using any online tool. Check if the IP address stays in the URL box (address bar) the entire time while clicking through the site.

1. Ping the site

2. Navigate to the site via IP

3. Does the IP stay in the browsers URL box when you click from page to page? If so, it's vulnerable.

Image Alt-Tags

Alt-Tags allow for further optimization of a webpage by adding spiderable descriptions of images. Alt-Tags are the primary source of information search engines rely on to assign value to images, can help increase Topic Authority and affect the ability of an image to appear in an "Image Search" or a traditional search result.

Use Caption Text for Images

Images surrounded by caption text have a better chance of appearing in "Image Searches".

Descriptive Filenames for Images

Images with descriptive file names provide yet another opportunity to add a keyword on-page and can increase the ability of the specific image to appear in "Image Searches".

Bad Example: /images/image908761.gif

Good Example: /images/iphone4s.gif

Check for Oversized Images

Note any oversized images (over 500k) you can find. Large images can take longer to download and according to Google, the response time for requesting your images and file size can affect its ability to rank in "Image Searches".

Site Hosting Location

If localization is important, the country of hosting can help determine if a website appears in local search results.

These points cover the most important factors of website architecture which, if implemented, can have a very positive impact on your organic SEO efforts.

Finding the Best Search Engine Optimization Specialists

Search engine optimization is a specialization that is regarded very highly when it comes to your website. It requires high skills, research and creativity. Thus, the builders must be very dedicated to it in order to provide the best. Some companies make a big mistake when it comes to optimization. Some even think that they can build it for themselves and the results are usually not very good. Getting good and reliable search engine optimization specialists is a very hard task. This is partly because you must find specialists that are dedicated to making your website rank at the top of the search engines. They must be focused and equipped with strategies that will create growth in organic search results. Although optimization concepts may be very simple, persistence and experience are needed to create the best. Even though many people claim to be specialists in this field, not many of them have such expertise. A good search engine optimization specialist is able to identify all potential sources of traffic. He should be able to get the maximum traffic. In the process, he ensures that your website is always ranked at the top.

When selecting your search engine optimization specialists, there are certain points that you have to bear in mind. The specialist must be completely familiar with the services and products you are offering. This will give him good opportunity to put all his efforts in giving you the best. He must also be able to know the level of optimization required for your website thus ensuring that you stay at the top of the rankings. He must also be able to apply optimization building strategies properly as well as the link building techniques. This gives a chance to give a high quality optimization that will be a boost to your website and company as well. Ensure that the specialists you go for are certified. This way, you can be sure that the people you are entrusting with your website are professionals. They must also have experience in optimization as well as internet marketing. This ensures that they know what is best for you and what is not good for you. They are always aware of the trend issues in the marketing field so they will give you the best. He should also be good at timing. He should know the right time to start building optimization, stop and restarting again to ensure that you stay at the top in the ranking system.

The biggest mistake that people make is choosing search engine optimization specialists according to their payment rate. They go for the cheap and end up getting low quality. Although not all cheap optimization experts are of low quality, the majority are of very low value. Remember, cheap is also expensive so you should be careful. In order to get the best, be prepared to give the best. This means that you should not base your research on money. Go for specialists that are affordable but will give you the best. However, expensive might not be the way to go. Ensure that they are not going to exploit you. Optimization building is an expensive activity. Therefore, you should be ready to fund it. Finally, do your research carefully. Testimonials and referrals are the best source of information. Your friends and relatives may know the best specialist from their own experience. They are in a better position to know who is best and who is not. Be certain to follow their instructions carefully and you will not be disappointed.

How Does a SEO Content Writer Use Article Directories to Build Linkbacks?

Last time we talked about linkbacks, which are hyperlinks that point back to the client's website from other sites. The best way to build linkbacks is probably to establish mutually-beneficial relationships with other sites that will want to promote you. That takes time and investment, though. So how do you build a bunch of linkbacks quickly and easily?

That's where article directories come in.

What's an article directory, and why should an SEO content writer care?

One way to quickly and easily build quality linkbacks is by submitting your writing to article directories. These are sites that publish writing in order to archive it or distribute it to other sites. For example, EzineArticles is popular.

Unlike getting published in a magazine or newspaper, article directories generally offer minimal rejection and quick publication. As long as your article conforms to their guidelines, your article has a very good chance of being published. Some do get rejected, but relatively few compared to magazines or newspapers. Publication is also often quick, generally within two weeks, and sometimes even same-day.

The best part is that good article directories have a PR around six or seven, which isn't bad. That means the linkback in your article will carry weight.

Where to place the linkback: in the resource box

A crucial virtue of article directories is that they provide a resource box at the end where you can link back to your client's site. The resource box is usually the place where you put an author bio or further resources for the reader to check out.

For reasons of etiquette, the linkback is best placed in the resource box, rather than in the body of the article. Putting it in the body undermines the objectivity of the article, and threatens to make the whole thing look like an advertisement. It is more acceptable to put it at the end in the resource box. Some article directories have specific rules about this, so read their guidelines carefully.

Whatever you do, be sure the article directories gives you that resource box and that it appears with the article on the same page as a live link. Without that linkback, your work is all for naught. You should also make sure you can use the article's keyword as anchor text, which is the topic of the next article.

Key points

So, to sum up, the key things to remember are these:
article directories provide a quick and easy way to build linkbacksput your linkback in the resource box at the end

In the next article, I'll explain how to use anchor text to your advantage in link building.

Does More Content Mean Better Search Engine Optimization Results?

In today's society, it's easy to think "bigger is always better." For most things, that's true: it's better to have more than less of everything from food to funds to free time. Search marketing is one of the few exceptions to that statement. While having enough content is absolutely vital, having too much is downright destructive to your results.

Too Much Of A Good Thing

Search engine optimization is successful when you and your SEO provider are able to show Google, Yahoo!, Bing, and the rest that your website provides valuable and useful content related to your target keywords. There are some criteria attached to the definition of "valuable" and "useful" even though Google is reluctant to publish hard rules. It is pretty obvious that you need to have a fairly substantial amount of content on your page in order for it to be useful. A page with no content at all is unlikely to have a lot of value to readers. After all, there's nothing to read! There is a notable exception to this: pages which consist entirely or almost entirely of images. Unfortunately, these just aren't very SEO friendly, and should be augmented with text even if the pictures explain the situation perfectly.

On the flipside, unorganized, disjointed, and overly long text isn't particularly useful either. People want targeted, efficiently presented information that explains things easily. They don't want to be distracted by a lot of useless junk content. If you have too much writing, the part of your content that answers the reader's questions will be lost in the shuffle. The result is that a potentially good, helpful website eventually gets branded as useless and starts dropping in the results.

Content, Bounce Rate, And Search Engine Optimization

One of the major ways that writing impacts your search marketing results is through bounce rate. Whenever someone visits your page through Google, Google tracks how long they stay and what other internal pages they visit while they are there. The longer they stay and the more internals they view, the higher your rank will become. If they're lingering, that presumably means they're interested and reading, which usually means that you've done a good job of presenting them with what they wanted to know.

If you have too many words, you'll overwhelm readers before they can even get started. You could provide something of incredible value, but if it's too long people simply will not even start reading it. In today's culture, humans require instant gratification and instant completion - long articles, while informative, don't provide that. If your content is anything less than crystal clear and well organized, the wall of text will be even more of a deterrent to visitors.

What's The Magic Number?

There is no one "magic" amount of content to target. As a general rule, don't go below 250 words. Anything less, and Google won't think you have enough to provide quality information to visitors. In most cases, going over 500 is excessive, and going over 750 should only be done in exceptional circumstances. If you're pushing at or above any of these boundaries, consider whether you might want to make subpages instead. These can be more individually targeted than something like a homepage, and can also rank independently and thus help your search engine optimization results.

Do You Want to Know Why Article Marketing Is Such a Good Backlinking Startegy?

Getting your company site listed on the top of the coveted first page of a major searching results page is, in part, kind of like a popularity contest. Search Engine Algorithms look at how many websites have created a link to your company site. These links are referred to as backlinks. For example, if another site rates your content high enough to add a link to it, the major search engines view this as an indication of the authority of your website. The more websites linking to your website, the higher it will rank on the search engine listings, or so in theory it goes. In reality, backlinks are not created equal. Some backlinks are good and are bad. You should avoid bad backlinks. Here were only going to focus on creating high quality backlinks.

Search Engines give better rankings to websites that receive many one-way links from higher ranking authoritative sites. A website will be thought to be authoritative if it has a high page rank like most of the top Article Directories.

Consistent keywords are also important for good search engine rankings. Search engine algorithms compare the keywords inside content on linked websites. If both the recommending website and also the endorsed webpage contain related keyword phrases, the backlinks are considered more beneficial.

This is why article marketing is such a good backlinking strategy. The key to being successful with article marketing is to focus on quality. You must create high quality articles that are relevant to your business. They don't have to be long. I write 500 word articles and I always pick topics I can get excited about. Article Directories only want to publish and promote high quality content, so make sure your articles are worth reading. At the bottom of the article submission form is the Author Bio Section. This is here you place backlinks to your website.

In the HTML Author Bio Section you want to use anchor text with your backlinks. Anchor text is the text that is visible on the Article web page (above the hyperlink). In order to make this work you need to use just a little bit of HTML Code. Here is the HTML code you need. " your targeted keyword phrase ". One other small point, it is best to insert your backlinks with anchor text naturally into a sentence wherever possible.

Focus on creating quality content and building quality backlinks. This will not only create better search engine ranking but it will drive interested web visitors to your site.

I hope you found this SEO information useful. If you want to acquire more information about creating lots of high quality backlinks, contact your favorite SEO.

How To Do Marketing On A Website By SEO?

In this article we are going to talk about doing SEO for your website. Especially we will talk about how to optimize your website and getting links from other website using free methods. First we are going to talk about two important elements that you need to pay attention to when you optimize your website. Second we will talk about getting links from other website using two popular and free methods. Finally, we are going to talk about the key points when you write article for SEO purpose.

On Page Search Engine Optimization

If you want to optimize your website, first you need to find out what words your target customers are used to do search on. We call this targeted keyword phrases. If your page does not have that relevant keyword phrase, it is difficult for people to find you out. This is the same for all search engines, not just for Google. When you have those keywords available, you need to include it in your webpage title and content so as to allow people to find you.

Apart from choosing correct keywords, there are some pages that are expected from search engine. For example, one of those pages is "about us" page, which allows visitors to know who you are. If you are selling product or service, it is also important include a terms of service or privacy page. By doing so you are giving visitors some confidence to your website.

Off Page SEO By Getting Links

You can use social bookmarking and article publishing to get links. The best part is that these two promotional methods are completely free.

Social bookmarking service can help a user to save different websites online. And also those saved bookmarks can be shared to public. In other words, those bookmarking websites will have a link to your website if a user bookmarks your web page. So that when someone is looking for information, they will find your website immediately.

Another promotional method is article writing. This is perhaps the most used way by other people who have limited or no budget for advertising. Those articles are written and optimized for particular keywords. And when you publish your article to an article publishing site, you will be able to get links from those article site to your website. Therefore when people are looking for information, again they can find you through your published article.

Important Points About Writing SEO content

While a lot of people are publishing article on the web to get traffic, not so many people are doing it correctly. Here are some points that you need to pay attention to when you are writing and publishing article.

First, you need to do your keyword research carefully. You cannot just start writing without knowing the keywords you want to target on. There are some free and paid software and web service that can do that for you. You can always get started by using Google Keyword tool. It is free and it is official keyword software coming from search engine giant, Google.

However, targeting main keyword is not enough for your article writing. You will need to find out the "long tail" keywords, which are keywords that are similar to your main keywords. It is because main keywords are sometimes competitive and hard to get in to the first page. Therefore you need other keyword variations to avoid keen competition.

Finally, when you finish your article, you can try to get response from reader by asking question at the end of your article. While creating SEO article content is OK, you can encourage your readers to interact with you, and find out more about them also. By doing so you will be able to understand more about your targeted market.

Archiving Old SEO Material

When dealing with SEO the obvious thoughts in many minds will be about the future.

Where do you want the website rankings to be in the future?

What sort of content/material shall we plan to produce?

And so on.....

However many will not have seriously considered the often overlooked job of archiving website content. In the days of freshness being a huge factor in SEO it is not only of importance to produce fresh material but to remove the old stuff.

Many a time websites will make changes to their navigational structures but forget to carry out remedial work to save the link juice that may have been created in past content on the site. The resulting 404 errors that flash up "File not found" will do no good to websites rankings and are likely to harm it.

So what are the consequences of not archiving material?

Quite simply it can result in,

Loss of search engine visibility

Costs of Repair

Loss of Reputation and Brand Image

Redoing SEO to try and obtain rankings

Loss of Sales and Profit

Archiving Blog Entries

A blog is undoubtedly one of the most important parts of any website and plays a big role in organic rankings and provides an effective means to communicate with an audience. Many a time when the matter of blog archiving is brought up the usual two answers are,

1. Archiving?

2. The blog software does this for us.

Answer no.2 is an interesting one because I'm sure it relates to most people who use blogs a lot on their website. However you may be surprised to know that this type of archiving, ie by the blog program, is not the most effective way of storing blog content with regards to SEO.

One of the principal reasons for this is that users do not usually search for blog entries by date. They will generally search for it on a search engine or an onsite search facility and they type in the keywords of whatever material they happen to be looking for. Looking by categories and related content is also common therefore it is important that content has good linkage between itself.

Uncategorised pages and ones that just rely on tagged pages will just not do! Also be aware that tagged pages can lead to duplicate content delivery that as a knock on effect will harm your organic rankings.

In order to allow for good rankings progress a webmaster must be archived and categorized correctly.

Make Content Accessible for Long Term Success

Webmasters must consider certain factors when looking at archiving blog content such as,

Making content easily accessible to both the search engine and the user

Do the archived articles still link through to the homepage and to other articles?

If no archiving plan is set in place from the beginning then the longer term benefits will far outweigh the pain caused further down the line when it is realised an archiving strategy needs to be implemented. Of course by this stage we could be talking here about many thousands of pages of content that have gathered up over the years so the amount of work could be considerable.

One of the fundamental basics of successful SEO of a website is to take SEO factors into consideration when developing and building a site. Yet for all this the issue of archiving content is quite often left out from the initial SEO "to do list". Just make sure it features on yours.

Archiving SEO material is an important factor in any optimisation campaign and SEO Company UK, SEO UK ensure that such factors are taken fully into account when devising a marketing campaign on the web.

5 Key Mistakes That Can Ruin Your Search Engine Optimization

Keeping the balance between search engine optimization and customer-friendly content is a delicate process. While making sure people are visiting your website is important, losing them when they get there due to content that seems strange is not a good outcome either. This article will show you some mistakes people can make when trying to make sure their website stays relevant to search engines.

1. Content. While SEO is important, you don't want to sacrifice your content for it. You should always make sure that the content on your website is up-to-date, well-written, and relevant to the people that find your site through a search engine. Getting lots of web traffic from people searching for "automobiles" won't do you any good if your website sells road paving equipment. Keep your content focused on your target audience.

2. Keywords. While you want to make sure your content makes sense to people visiting your site, you will also want to insert key words and phrases into the writing on your site. Make sure you don't overdo it or your audience will notice. Use common sense and use keywords only when they make sense.

3. Meta tags. Meta tags are keywords that are part of the HTML your website uses. While meta tags are part of the code in your website, they are not viewable to the public. Using the correct keywords in your meta tags is just as important as using them at all. These keywords will show the engines what your website is about and it will help them categorize and rank your site. Having off topic keywords can be worse than not using your meta tags at all.

4. Poor site design and flawed navigation. You want to make sure while making your website that the flow and design makes sense. If someone can't get from your homepage to a purchase page, you are losing that sale. Keep clear navigation on each page and test your website with several browsers to make sure they display correctly on each one.

5. Submit your site. While many people create their website optimized for the engines, they don't realize you must submit your website to them. Doing this will ensure the search engines' spiders will find your site and catalog it. If you don't submit your site, the search engines might never see it to rank and show it in their searches.

Just having a website doesn't ensure traffic. Visitors will only come to your site if your website is built and maintained in a way that will keep you relevant to search engines. Keep away from these common errors and you can count on having a more successful website.

7 SEO Myths Revealed

If you are marketing online, SEO is inevitable. Search Engine Optimization has evolved over the years. With so many tips, tricks and techniques around, it's very easy to misinterpret some concepts. Today there are so many myths and misconceptions in the SEO world, leading to sheer waste of time and SEO efforts by search engine optimization implementers. This is an attempt to clarify a few very basic myths.

Myth 1: More Keywords = Higher Ranking
No. If you use too many keywords in your content, it will adversely affect your SEO efforts. A keyword density of 2-3 % is enough.

Myth 2: More Links = Better Ranking
No. More "quality" links can bring you a good ranking. It's more of a quality factor than quantity. If you have quality links linking to your site, it is seen as a plus. Linking just for a quantitative advantage adversely affects your rankings.

Myth 3: PPC gives organic results a boost
No again! PPC is separate from organic results. Yes, your business does get a boost with PPC, but organic SEO rankings are completely different from PPC.

Myth 4: Buying links will help me because I get many links instantly - this will improve my rankings.
No, if you buy links, you might see momentary results, but again - a bunch of irrelevant, low quality links will do more harm than any good. Always ensure that your link building strategies are aimed towards building them organically.

Myth 5: SEO is complete for my website - what next?
False. SEO tasks can never be "complete". Search engine optimization is an ongoing process and never a onetime activity. If you have completed on-page tasks, continue with articles, blogs, etc. Keep your website "live" on the internet. And keep adding value for customers as well as search engines to look for.

Myth 6: Images and videos are not useful because search engines can read only text.
No - no. Images and videos make the website content rich. Use them if it is going to add value to your website's user experience. Well, the good news is, images and videos can be optimized for search engines too. You can use ALT tags in images and description, titles to describe the videos and images. With proper SEO, you can use any image and video and search engines will read and understand them.

Myth 7: Sitemaps.xml will help boost rankings
No that's not true either. Sitemap.xml is important from both user and search engine perspective for easy navigation and to better understand you website. But it will definitely not help in gathering extra "juice" and boost rankings. This is not to say that don't use site maps, use them to assist users and crawlers through your site's pages and help them navigate better - rankings will follow automatically.

Effective SEO Strategy - DIY or Professional SEO Agency?

Search engine optimization, or SEO, becomes a bit more complicated by the year. What used to be a fairly simple process of placing well chosen keywords into website content has developed over the years into a complicated system that requires onsite and offsite strategy. Without effective strategy and a well developed SEO plan, your website will not get the attention, traffic, or sales that it really deserves. This is why there are so many people now choosing to hire an SEO agency rather than doing it all themselves.

Can You Do It Yourself?

Many people start online businesses or get into affiliate marketing and think they can easily throw up a website with a bit of content and start pulling in the sales. It isn't until they have shelled out money to develop their site that they realize search engine optimization is not as easy as they initially thought it would be. Placing keywords into the content and URL are easy enough, but that is no longer enough to draw a healthy flow of traffic to a website.

There are people who successfully create SEO plans complete with effective strategy, and they are able to get the results they want without hiring an SEO company. The problem is that most people do not have the knowledge to do this successfully. It is easy to learn the very basics of search engine optimization by reading blogs or finding a good website with relevant content, but most of what you find will only get you started. If you don't have some advanced knowledge, you won't get effective results.

Those who are able to successfully put together and implement an SEO plan without the guidance of an SEO agency are those who know something about SEO. If you are just starting to learn but have lots of questions still be answered, then you are probably not in the position to do all of your search engine optimization on your own.

Hiring an SEO Company

The great thing about hiring an SEO agency is that they can do all of the complicated work for you. This frees you up to work on other aspects of your business, while they take care of the search engine optimization.

If you are trying to learn SEO so you can eventually do it on your own, you could discuss being more active in the process of implementing your SEO plan. Pay attention to the plan that your chosen SEO company puts together so you can understand how they are putting it all together. Watch the results that you get from all aspects of the plan, and learn how make tweaks to the plan with time. You will have to learn how to monitor and track results so you know what needs to be changed and how it should be changed.

What drives many people to try doing search engine optimization on their own is the financial component of the process. No one wants to pay an SEO agency if they don't have to, so many will try doing it on their own first. After months of limited traffic and few results, they finally see the value of hiring an SEO company from the start.

How Does an SEO Content Writer Use Linkbacks?

One of the most important tools of an SEO content writer is the linkback. Through judicious use of this technique, a few well-placed articles can rocket a site to the top of search results.

What's a linkback, and why should an SEO content writer care?

A linkback is a link that points back to the client's website. When other websites link to a site, search engines take that as a sign that the site is important and relevant.

This is one of the major metrics used by search engines. Some SEO experts even suggest it may be the most important one, because it is the most difficult to control and thus manipulate to one's advantage. However, we know how to work this angle.

Linkback... "back" from where?

"Back" from other websites. The more important those websites, the better. All links are good, but some are better than others. Sites with high authority are best. Authority is the ability of a site to rank well in search engines. That depends on many factors, of course, but a simple way to get a rough idea is by its Page Rank, or PR. You can determine a site's PR for free by going to Googe Page Rank Checker.

In the SEO game, you want to build links from sites with a high PR. If search engines see that important sites link to your client's site, they assume the client's site must be important too.

How to use linkbacks

By now it should be fairly obvious that the way to use linkbacks is by incorporating them into content published on sites with a high PR. That's the gist of it. There are special techniques to do that, though, and in ensuing articles we'll talk about how to use anchor text and article directories to create effective linkbacks.

Here's a quick preview of what's coming up:

The anchor text is the word or phrase that is displayed on the page. It's also what the user clicks on to activate the link. The words you choose to use as anchor text are crucial for the effectiveness of your linkback. Therefore, you should choose your anchor text wisely.

Article directories are sites that publish writing in order to archive it or distribute it to other sites. They're a way to quickly and easily build quality linkbacks. Since article directories often have high Page Rank, they produce more effective linkbacks than other sites. By submitting your writing to article directories, and including a linkback with well-chosen anchor text, you can better optimize your client's website.

Key points

For now, the key points to remember are:
linkbacks point back to the client's websitethe higher the PR of the linking site, the better

How to Build SEO for Your Website the Right Way - Know What Google Wants

With the large number of websites currently available on the internet, it is becoming increasingly difficult to be noteworthy to Google and other search engines. If your website is well established, you are at least a step ahead of the new sites coming online each day, but that doesn't necessarily equate to the volume of traffic you are looking for.

The one thing that is constantly a positive when you want to garner the interest of future customers is to build SEO that gets Google's attention, and the way to do that is to know what Google wants.

Search engines are designed to be fair to all websites that compete for free space in the searches, so following the guidelines explicitly for the best exposure is the only way to expect to press closer to being located on the first page of an applicable search.

Keep Your Website Current

People who tell you that a website can be designed to run itself are not very perceptive of how the process works. Search engines like seeing new content each time they crawl a website, and visitors to your site will want to return often when you build SEO by keeping them supplied with new information on a topic of interest to them.

As people return and the traffic increases, Google will raise your rank and move you up the ladder. Keep your content original and do the research necessary to provide factual and interesting information. If you have a popular niche topic and provide updates often, you will build SEO and increase your ranking.

Optimization for the Search Engines

You should make it very clear what you are promoting on a website. This is true in the printed word, pictures, and videos, but it must also be true behind the scenes where the search engines pick up information.

The more straightforward and obvious your content is made, the higher that content will be ranked. You should have a description for a webpage that includes the keyword phrases for which you want to be ranked. Those same keywords need to be your tags so they build SEO.

Quality Backlinks

Off page SEO is the heart of selling your website, and it is represented by backlinks. Of course, where those backlinks originate has much to do with how highly they are regarded. Just as there are quality backlinks that can boost your ranking, there are also links that can damage your ranking, so it is important to understand the value the search engines place on the origin of the links and how they are obtained.

If your website information is useful and provides value to the reader, it is much easier to attract quality backlinks, many from sites that are already ranked high in searches. New content and link building must be a continual part of building SEO for your website. Give it the time and effort it deserves, and you will be well rewarded.

How Much Money Can an SEO Content Writer Make?

Make no mistake -you're not going to strike it rich as an SEO content writer. But you can make a living that enables a phenomenal lifestyle.

Many get discouraged right away when they hear about SEO content writers getting paid two dollars per article. There's no way you can live on that. You could work yourself to the bone and still have to go through the line at the soup kitchen.

How can you eat on two dollars per article? You can't. But there's a secret.

What's the secret?

First of all, the people working for two dollars per article probably don't live in America. Or Britain or Australia or New Zealand. Most likely, they live in the Philippines, India, or some other country with a very low cost of living and a favorable exchange rate. That's what makes it worth their while.

So, how can you compete with writers in developing countries willing to work for peanuts?

Your SEO content writer advantage

Never fear - you've got an enormous advantage. If you're a native English speaker with even a modicum of writing talent, your work will blow theirs out of the water.

Clients don't want writing that sounds foreign, or that uses improper grammar. Every time they contract someone in the Philippines for two dollars, they have to take extra time to edit that work into native-sounding English. They may even have to hire a professional editor. That means two dollars isn't two dollars - it's an escalating price tag and a headache.

That's where you come in. Once clients see you can write decent, natural-sounding English - or better yet, hear it by talking to you on the phone - they'll pay much higher rates. You are the doctor that cures their headache, and that's how you'll sell yourself. They'll pay more than $30 for an article if they're convinced you're good.

Enough to live the lifestyle you want

Thirty dollars for a four-hundred word article isn't bad. You can write at least two articles per hour, four or more if you're fast. That calculates to $60-120 per hour!

Of course, you probably won't be able to keep that up for eight hours a day. But the cash is enough that the other hours of the day can be spent living the lifestyle of your dreams.

Want to spend more time with your spouse or children? Devote yourself to artistic pursuits? Travel? All these become possible with the income of an SEO content writer.

How Search Engines Work

Google Search Engine

What is the purpose of the Google search engine? It seems a silly question in some ways, yet many do not seem to understand exactly what it is that Google and other search engines (SEs) actually do. Consumers believe Google is there to help them find information, while website owners and online marketers believe SEs exist to help them promote their website or business. In fact, both are a bit wrong and a bit right.

The company's mission statement from its inception has been, "To organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful."

This statement is very broad, almost too broad to be of value. And, you might ask, useful to whom? In fact, Google and the other SEs are designed to find, index, and rank the information which is available on the web, then present it to the end user, the searcher, in an organized fashion.

The job of a search engine

In other words, it is the job of a search engine to find and make available the information each user seeks, not to provide you, the website owner, with an audience. It is their job to help searchers find you, not to help you find their user, or to place their user at your doorstep.

Once this concept is understood, it is also easy to understand that a process of providing information to the SEs to help them find you must begin. This process is called Search Engine Optimization, or SEO.

If you think of the search results as a table of contents or index of the web, you will begin to understand what needs to be done to bring the SEs to your site. The search engines are constantly crawling the web for content related to particular subjects, then cataloguing them for their clients, the searchers. If you provide content which is relevant to these searches, you will be listed and ranked on the results page. These results are known as organic search results, because they stem directly from the user's query.

Search engine exploitation

The thinking behind SEO, or search engine optimization, is the technique of exploiting the SEs function. If the job of the SEs is to find information then, if you wish to be found, you must provide information, or content. However, it is also the job of the SEs to rank that information, to judge its quality, so exploitation of this feature requires that you post quality content as well, and you must do so regularly.

In order for the SEs to find and rank your site, and to determine whether or not your content is relevant to a particular query, or search, the content you create must be directly related to your subject area, or niche. Irrelevant content will be ignored. Also, content which is created to trick the search engines will be punished, removing it from the search results and even, perhaps, blacklisting a site completely from any future search results.
